With the summer upon us, many people start to develop “healthy” goals for that summer body for vacation. Goals and resolutions are always great, they make us want to make a positive change to ourselves. But how can we make these short term goals into big lifelong changes?
Mini goals to begin with.
The worst thing I did when I first starting working out was going for that high intense workout to begin with, doing this injured me a fair amount of the time as my muscles and body were not used to it at all.

The best advice I could give is to take it easy, make your workouts short and sweet to begin with. 30 minutes of excersise 3 to 4 times a week is a good start, you don’t have to make it complicated either, even if it’s a fair amount of sit ups and push ups, you’ll get better over time. All these mini goals you set out for yourself will only get you motivated to try bigger and stronger everything workout related.
Think fun and variety.
Doing the same workout time and time again can get pretty boring and tedious. People seem to forget that there’s hundreds of different techniques when it comes to working out. Whether it’s a toning and sculpting class that changes routine every week or a trail run that changes scenery every season, design your daily routines around a various number of different exercises.
Nobody wants to do the same workout day in and day out right? This also gives a chance to stretch those muscles tou never thought you had by doing a completely different routine.Make sure you include activities you truly enjoy and look forward to doing. And can even forget that you’re working out altogether. Stuff like dancing, hula hooping or playing sports with family can all be a massive help.
Enjoying healthy food
We all have been there. We want to eat healthy but we can’t avoid junk food at the same time. While people enjoy junk food and avoid all the healthy foods and drinks, but it is possible for you to change your tastebuds so you can do a full 180 degree turn.

We are now surrounded by high sugar foods everywhere we go, from adverts to billboards and so on. We only have the power to change this ourselves. Food industry’s don’t care one bit what we eat and don’t eat. As I mentioned in the 1st point, you can also set yourself mini goals when it comes to this. Even you eat a ton of sugar then tone it down after every week. If you have a coffee with 2 sugars, tone it down to one and a half and so on.
Not only can you ditch the sugar for nice and healthy carbs, but your body will thank you for this. Keep healthy foods in easily accessible and visible places in your home and so on. Put some fruits in the basket and place it on a kitchen counter. Store healthy snacks at eye level and stock up your fridge with whole grains and fruit and veg. You might not like these healthy foods over time but trust me, be patient and you’ll never want to touch a candy bar in your life.
Reward yourself
Motivation is the number one key to weight loss, because it will help you achieve self discipline that you need to overcome. The best way to achieve a high level of motivation is to reward yourself when you successfully achieved a goal for yourself such as a certain amount of pounds lost. You can reward yourself by buying yourself a new dress or a new shirt, watching a concert or going away for the weekend. By setting up a system like this, you will always have something to work towards by making your goals succesfull rather than aimless.
